Our Story
In 2009, a heart-wrenching story broadcasted across Uganda ignited a movement.
A 7-year-old girl, leading her siblings in a child-headed household, became the symbol
of resilience and unspoken needs within our community. This moment marked the genesis of PSM Charity, a committed group initially galvanized by this single act of compassion. Officially registered as a non-profit in 2020, we have dedicated
ourselves to transforming the lives of children and women who face adversities.
Our Mission:
At PSM Charity, we strive to empower children and women through holistic development, focusing on their well-being, education, and self-sufficiency. Our goal is to ensure every child and woman in our care leads a life marked by dignity, opportunity, and hope.
Our Vision:
We envision a future where adversity is not a barrier but a stepping stone to a fulfilling life. We dream of a world where every child and woman, regardless of their past, has the chance to thrive and contribute positively to society.
Our Impact and Initiatives:
1) Kids Safe Harbor Program: Sheltering and nurturing 516 children, this program provides a comprehensive safety net, offering education, food, and care, ensuring
a promising future for each child.
2) Youthful Moms, Resilient Futures: Empowering 350 young, single mothers with education and skills, this initiative enables them and their children to lead fulfilling
and self-sufficient lives.
3) CUWEI Program: Addressing environmental and health challenges, this program improves water access, sanitation, and contributes to climate change mitigation.
4) Holistic Mental Health Services: In Nakaseke and Mityana Districts, we provide
crucial mental health support. Our approach is holistic, blending traditional
practices with modern methodologies to foster mental well-being. Through this
program, we aim to make mental health a part of ongoing community dialogue.
5) Water - The Elixir of Life: Recognizing the fundamental need for clean water, we have constructed 50 spring wells in districts like Mukono, Lwengo, and Kamuli. This initiative not only provides access to clean water but has also impacted over 25,000 lives by reducing waterborne diseases and enhancing the overall health and vitality of these communities.
The Challenge
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the vulnerabilities of the
populations we serve. To sustain our impactful programs, we need $31,295
monthly, with an immediate goal of raising $15,000 for essential food supplies.
