I-SAKSHAM EDUCATION AND LEARNING FOUNDATION

I-SAKSHAM EDUCATION AND LEARNING FOUNDATION (i-Saksham) is a non-profit organization that has been building local young women as 'Leaders of Change' in backward and extremism-affected areas of India. It uses education as a medium to build women leaders. Hence, calls them 'edu-leaders'.

These young women edu-leaders undergo a 2-year leadership development program followed by continuous alumni engagement to:
1. Grow as female role models, develop a sense of self-worth, and acquire an understanding of gender
2. Teach in government schools of their village for 2 years to improve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy of children
3. Become community change agents in the long run.

i-Saksham has to date successfully built 200+ community edu-leaders working across 100 government schools and impacting 7500 children. This has achieved success in 4 backward districts of Bihar incl Gaya, Jamui, Munger. The recent Third-Party Party Assessment also shows significant achievements.

Since its inception, the model has received several national acclamations- Best practices under 'Skill Innovation Initiative', 'Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'; and Incubation from IIM B.

i-Saksham has partnered with Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society (Jeevika) to work with cluster-level federations of women SHGs who will recruit females as edu-leaders, and oversee delivery of quality education at schools/community learning centres. The partnership will shortly be scaled across different districts of Bihar State of India.

Your support will be used to set up a corpus which will be used to create young edu-leaders in extremism-affected areas of Bihar State in India, who in turn will teach children and make their parents contribute better to their learning journey.
