I write this not just as the founder and dream bearer of a nonprofit organization, but as someone who has lived through the same struggles we now work tirelessly to address in forgotten and vulnerable households.
My name is RONNIE REMMY MUKWAYA, and I grew up in a large polygamous family of 21 children. Each day was a battle for survival. We lacked food, school fees, clothing, medicine, shelter, and even basic bedding. My parents, who studied only up to Primary Seven, worked tirelessly on small-scale farming and raising a few chickens and goats. Earning even five dollars a day was a challenge.
God, in His mercy, changed my life through MR. GLENN FLATEN, a Rotarian from Ottawa, Canada, who became like a father to me. He supported my education, offered mentorship, taught life skills, and even helped my younger sister, who is now a trained midwife nurse. Though Glenn passed away before I completed school, his generosity became the foundation of my calling and the birth of VILLAGE VISION CARE (VVC) in 2019. I vowed to spend my life serving others as he served me. Today, I serve not only my people but also my God in honor of Glenn’s love and generosity. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
After sharing this dream with a fellow believer, we moved forward. Today, VVC is a fully registered NGO, serving vulnerable communities in Uganda and aiming to expand across the country. I serve passionately as a volunteer, advocating for the voiceless, standing with the fatherless, and bringing hope to the poor, struggling, and broken.
Our inspiration comes from the Holy Bible:
"Learn to do right. Seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless. Plead the case of the widow."–Isaiah 1:17
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Defend the rights of the poor and needy."–Proverbs 31:8-9
Who We Are
Village Vision Care (VVC) is a fully registered nonprofit, community-rooted organization in Uganda. We serve the most vulnerable groups, particularly in underserved villages, including:
Orphaned and vulnerable children
Children with disabilities
Struggling youth and out-of-school teenagers
Single and young mothers
Widows and elderly persons with no family support
Families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty
What We Do
1. Health and WASH
We teach hygiene and disease prevention, promote clean water access, and improve sanitation. We also support menstrual hygiene education in schools and communities.
2. Child Support and Education
We help vulnerable children stay in school by providing school supplies, fees, uniforms, and mentorship.
3. Livelihood Empowerment
We help families start income-generating activities such as backyard gardening, poultry keeping, piggery, goat rearing, and small businesses.
4. Skills Development & Youth Training
We train youth and young mothers in employable skills, including tailoring, knitting, embroidery, hairdressing, crafts, computer and smartphone repair, piano and music development, bakery and catering, briquette making, welding, motorcycle repair, and soap making.
We also provide creative and language training (German for scholarship/volunteer opportunities abroad, French coming soon) and help participants form digital Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) for financial literacy and self-reliance.
5. Environmental Care
We teach climate awareness, promote tree planting, organize community clean-ups, and encourage the use of clean energy in rural areas.
Our Impact So Far
Helped over 45 children and youth access primary and secondary education
Supported 4 elderly persons, 5 widows, and 4 children/youth with disabilities
Conducted climate education and community clean-up campaigns
Masaka VKM Cluster Achievements
Despite limited funding and operations restricted to Masaka City:
Supported over 512 vulnerable households
Formed 30 VSLA groups
Major Milestone:
The Masaka VKM Cluster, led by VVC with Masaka City NGO Forum and Kisembo Foundation Uganda, is accredited as a Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) Assessment Center (MAC/1523). This ensures that every skills trainee receives official certification from Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports, opening doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and dignity.
Current Training Results:
119 boys trained in motorcycle repair
160 youth (1 boy, 159 girls) trained in hairdressing
118 youth (28 boys, 90 girls) trained in tailoring
All graduates await their nationally recognized certificates, ensuring they are educated, employable, and empowered to succeed.

When one life is changed, a whole family and community is transformed. This work is not for fame or profit, it is a calling to serve God and humanity with love and purpose.
