Families in Israel and the occupied territories need your help!

by INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS

Thousands of people awoke on Saturday, 7 October to sirens blaring and the sound
of explosions. Fear and anxiety are overwhelmingly present, and no one knows what will happen next. Reports suggest that hundreds have been killed, with many more injured and in needof medical treatment.

In Israeli communities, people have locked themselves in their homes or rushed with terrified children to shelters. In Gaza, there are reports that people are packing up and moving away from densely populated areas. People are scared of what might happen next.

The ICRC has been present in Israel and the Occupied Territories since 1967. As a neutral, independent, humanitarian organization, we visit detainees in Israeli and Palestinian places of detention. We also help improve access to essential services like water and electricity in Gaza and support livelihood projects throughout the Occupied Territories.

This violence will have short and long-term repercussions. Medical facilities across the region are facing increased pressure, which will increase if they are damaged.

Right from the onset of the crisis, we dispatched a truck of medical supplies (stretchers, beds, body bags) to a hospital in Gaza. We are ready to provide further humanitarian assistance as required on both sides.

Currently, we are:
- Delivering critical medical supplies to hospitals to help treat the wounded
- Providing essential services such as household items as well as access to food and clean water
- Protection and engagement with all parties to ensure respect with International Humanitarian Law
- Searching for the Missing and restoring contact between those in captivity and their families
