Colonel James “Jim” Lanier lived a life rooted in service, faith, and generosity. Commissioned into the U.S. Army in 1961, he served honorably for 22 years before continuing his commitment to others through a second career at First Command Financial Services, where he became President and Chairman of the Board.
Jim was most admired for his character—his quiet leadership, strong faith, and belief that helping others was a calling. Established by his family, the Jim Lanier Memorial Scholarship supports students who are children of active duty service members, ensuring Jim’s legacy of service lives on.
