THE LEARNING ENRICHMENT FOUNDATION

The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) was incorporated September 27, 1978 as a non-profit, registered charity. We are celebrating more than 45 years as a leader in Community Economic Development delivering quality, holistic, integrated services in the former City of York in Northwest Toronto, an area with remarkable community spirit and diversity, but also many challenges associated with a high level of poverty.

Our mission is to provide integrated and holistic community responsive initiatives that enable individuals and families to become valued contributors to their community’s social and economic development.

LEF provides programs using an integrated model including employment and newcomer services, language and skills training programs, youth programs, child care, and social enterprises; all designed based on the needs of our local community.

LEF an Ontario Career College and we offer training courses that boost career potential; equipping participants with the skills, certifications and experience that industry professionals seek when hiring. Our skills training programs include Early Childhood Assistant Training, Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance Training, Warehouse Essential Skills Training, and other re-certification programs.

LEF is the third largest not for profit provider of licensed child care in the City of Toronto, and operates 25 childcare centres providing care from birth to 12 years of age.

We work closely with the community, leveraging more than 200 community organization partnerships and over 200 established employer relationships. LEF currently employs over 400 staff and serves more than 8,000 people each year.
