The MINA Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating equitable career and educational opportunities for racialized and low-income youth in the Greater Toronto Area. We challenge systemic barriers by providing experiential learning, mentorship, and access to meaningful employment, ensuring young people have the tools and support they need to thrive.
Our work is driven by two core programs:
Inspiring Futures – As an educational and career exploration program, Inspiring Futures connects marginalized students (elementary through high school) with career panels, industry field trips, and interactive workshops. By exposing students to diverse career pathways, we help them see possibilities beyond their immediate surroundings, challenge biases, and recognize the transferable skills they already possess.
Inspiring Work – A year-long after-school program focused on STEM industries, providing racialized and underserved high school students with:
Work-integrated experiential workshops (offered in-person and virtually)
Soft skills training and industry-recognized certifications
Access to apply for meaningful summer employment opportunities
At The MINA Project, representation matters. We ensure our leadership, mentors, and volunteers reflect the communities we serve, allowing young people to see themselves in the professionals guiding them. Additionally, we prioritize gender equity, ensuring that at least 50% of our program participants identify as female, helping to build a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
Why It Matters
Youth from marginalized communities often face barriers that limit their access to professional networks, career guidance, and work experience. By bridging these gaps, The MINA Project not only empowers young people but also strengthens industries in need of diverse talent. We are building an inclusive pipeline of future leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
Our Purpose
To empower equity-deserving youth by providing experiential learning, skill development, and career opportunities—helping to create a more inclusive and equitable workforce.
