Myanmar Earthquake | Children in Danger

, Australian Committee For UNICEF Limited

On 28 March, a powerful 7.7 earthquake struck in the early afternoon, with a 6.4 magnitude earthquake following just two minutes later. Many children remain missing, unaccompanied, or in deep shock. Thousands of children and families are still living in overcrowded, makeshift shelters with limited access to clean water, healthcare, and education.

The destruction is immense. Homes, schools, hospitals, and essential infrastructure have been severely damaged or destroyed, leaving entire communities cut off due to landslides and collapsed roads. Entire communities are without water, food, shelter, medicines and money.

Our teams are on the ground, delivering lifesaving supplies, including clean water, health kits, medical supplies, tents, and hygiene kits, such as soap, sanitary pads, and disinfectants, for children and families in desperate need.

The earthquake is exacerbating an already extreme dire situation in Myanmar. We urgently need your help to do more for children.

$33 could provide approximately 5,556 water purification tablets, each able to create up to 5 litres of clean drinking water.

$50 could help provide approximately 4,762 sachets of nutrient powder for children facing malnutrition.

$165 could help provide about two-thirds of a 'School-in-a-Box', supporting access to education for over 25 children.

UNICEF is 100 per cent donor funded and has helped save more lives than any other humanitarian organisation in the world. But we need your support through donations to reach even more children in need.

You can have the most impact by becoming a regular donor today to help provide long-term support to children living in Myanmar.
