On this day we mark moments in women’s history. Step by step, decade by decade, progress has been won by those who believed in safety, equality and opportunity for all. But that progress is not guaranteed.

Around the world, from threats to voting rights and education to the impacts of conflict and climate crisis, we’re seeing how easily progress can be rolled back.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate how far we’ve come and recognise how far we still have to go. CARE International UK and our partners work alongside women and communities in the world’s toughest contexts to build a fairer, safer future.
Because progress is possible but only if we keep pushing.
