Papua New Guinea Landslide

by Australian Committee For UNICEF Limited

At 3 am on Friday, 24 May, a devastating landslide struck Enga Province, a remote part of Papua New Guinea. At a time when families were asleep, the landslide caused major devastation. Many of the buried are yet to be located as search and rescue efforts are underway. The number of casualties is expected to increase as rescue efforts continue. At least 50 to 60 homes, plus a school, were completely destroyed, with many more under threat from the unstable landslide.

UNICEF is on the ground in Papua New Guinea, working with the authorities and local partners to support relief efforts. Among other critical support, UNICEF is distributing emergency supplies, including clean water, sanitation tools, and hygiene items, to help families maintain health and dignity during the emergency.

Your donations will support the UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) to meet the humanitarian needs of children, adolescents and women affected by these and other emergencies. Should we receive more funds than is needed for this emergency, your gift will support UNICEF's work where the need is greatest.

Please donate today.

Should the funding gap for this emergency be filled, your generous gift will go to where the need is greatest.
