Hurricane Idalia Response

by WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN INCORPORATED

Despite slamming into a sparsely populated stretch of Florida’s western coast, Hurricane Idalia caused extensive damage in several small communities and left more than 200,000 people without electricity. Making landfall as a Category 3 hurricane, Idalia downgraded to Category 1 as it continued moving quickly towards Georgia and other southeastern states.

WCK teams spread across western Florida ahead of the storm and began providing sandwiches, fruit, and water and assessing food needs immediately after the storm passed. Our teams have set up operations centers and are working with restaurant and food truck partners to begin distributing warm, nourishing meals as soon as we find pockets of need.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

WCK has provided more than 300 million fresh, nourishing meals for communities around the world. Your donation today will be used to support our emergency food relief efforts in communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
