Regenerative Farms for Unhoused Youth — The California Land Initiative

by TEEN HEALTH INC

Teen Health’s California Regenerative Youth Land Initiative is a long-term housing and workforce development program designed to help unhoused young adults ages 18–29 transition toward stable, independent living.

Teen Health plans to acquire regenerative ranch properties in Southern California where participants can live on-site, earn wages through paid apprenticeships, build workforce and life skills, and receive ongoing case management and housing support in a structured, supportive environment.

The program combines transitional housing, workforce development, regenerative agriculture, and social enterprise to create a sustainable pathway out of homelessness. Apprenticeship tracks will include regenerative farming, produce operations, livestock care, food systems, and community market operations.

Unlike traditional short-term shelter models, the initiative focuses on long-term stabilization and individualized progress rather than fixed exit timelines. The ranch properties are also designed to generate earned income through CSA subscriptions, farmers markets, agritourism, and farm-branded products, helping create a more sustainable nonprofit model over time.

The initiative will begin with 8–12 residential beds during Phase I, with future expansion planned across additional properties in Southern California.
