FROM HOMELESSNESS TO HOPE: 21 HOMES FOR VETERANS

Wings of Hope Veteran Housing Foundation was born from lived experience. Our founder knows what it means to experience homelessness—and what can happen when someone opens the door to permanent housing.
Today, Wings of Hope is working to open that door for other veterans.
We are pursuing the acquisition and redevelopment of a 21-unit apartment property at 7603 Pacific Avenue South in Tacoma as a potential permanent housing resource for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Our immediate campaign goal is $125,000 to help advance site control, acquisition readiness, professional due diligence, and the predevelopment work necessary to move this opportunity from vision toward reality.
This isn't simply about buying a building. It is about creating 21 doors to stability, dignity, recovery, and a new beginning.

We should be careful not to represent the property as already acquired or guaranteed. Right now the campaign is about advancing and securing the opportunity, which is both credible and powerful.

Instead of random donation amounts, connect every contribution to the mission:
$25 — Hope Builder: Helps support veteran housing outreach and campaign operations.
$50 — Veteran Advocate: Helps advance the work required to connect veterans with stable housing.
$100 — Door Opener: Supports housing-development and organizational capacity.
$250 — Housing Champion: Helps advance predevelopment and acquisition-readiness activities.
$500 — Mission Partner: Supports the professional and organizational infrastructure required to move the project forward.
$1,000+ — Founding Housing Partner: Major support toward bringing the 21-unit vision from opportunity to reality.
There is an important Washington Gives rule here: recognition is fine, but we should not promise donors something of monetary value in exchange for the contribution. Washington Gives specifically says contributions cannot be used to purchase memberships, tickets, raffle tickets, sponsorships, or another benefit in exchange for the donation. So our recognition program should consist of acknowledgments, website recognition, social-media recognition, honor rolls, project updates, certificates/letters of appreciation, etc.—not commercial benefits.
Washington Gives
And I want peer-to-peer fundraising built into this from the beginning. Washington Gives allows supporters to create their own fundraising pages for a nonprofit, and it also supports teams. That means we can eventually recruit 21 “Door Captains”—board members, veterans, military families, churches, NAACP/Brotherhood R.I.S.E. contacts, businesses and community supporters—with each captain raising, for example, $1,000–$5,000 toward the overall campaign.
