Threat of Imminite Famine in Somalia

by OXFAM-AMERICA INC

In Somalia, 1 out of 5 people are severely affected by drought. As many as 5.6 million people are "experiencing high levels of food insecurity," as they endure a sustained climate-induced drought after four consecutive failed rainy seasons. According to the United Nations, about 20 percent of people affected by drought are in the northwest coast in Somaliland.

Oxfam and local partners are on the ground in camps for displaced people across eastern Somaliland, providing emergency food and water to help combat acute hunger and imminent famine. Oxfam’s program also supports the establishment of latrines and distributes cash to camp residents so they can buy food and other essentials.

Your donation can help the most vulnerable people in Somalia adapt to climate change:

$5 can supply a family with enough clean water for one month
$20 covers the cost of water and collection and storage containers for a household
$25 can help deliver 1300 gallons of clean water to those in need
$56 can provide a family with a fresh food voucher
$250 can build an emergency latrine for displaced families

Thank you for your much needed support.
