Hurricane Helene | Children's Emergency Fund

by SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INC

Hurricane Helene hit the U.S. with intense winds and life-threatening storm surge in Florida's Big Bend area. Helene continued to make its way through the Southeast as a tropical storm, impacting Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

Helene has impacted families in the US Southeast, including Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. Considerable devastation has occurred, especially in the rural areas where we focus our work.

Our staff and partners are immediately responding to the needs of families in Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee, where communities sustained significant damage.

With thousands of people affected, Save the Children is working with local partners to provide emergency relief across the region and laying the groundwork for what will be needed to support communities in their long-term recovery, including:

-Distributing essential items such as hygiene kits, cleaning supplies, diapers, wipes and more to families impacted by the storm.

-Providing emergency grants to damaged child care centers to ensure their immediate and long-term recovery so families can get back to work and children are safe.

-Protecting the well-being of children and those who care for them through mental health and psychosocial support programs and training.

Save the Children has been supporting children’s most critical needs in emergencies along the Gulf Coast since 2005, including Hurricanes Ian, Irma, Michael, Idalia and Beryl.

Help now by supporting our Children's Emergency Fund which allows us to effectively prepare, respond and support children's recovery during disasters in the U.S., like Hurricane Helene.
