It is no secret that life in Palestine is far from simple. Small luxuries that we take for granted are beyond the means of the local people, especially for Palestinian farmers who operate in less-than-ideal conditions.

Olive trees hold symbolic, agricultural, and economic meanings for Palestinian farmers. A symbol of joy, peace and happiness, olive trees provide us not only simple food and shade but an entire livelihood. In a nation where almost one-third or 1.6 million people face food insecurity and do not have access to “nutritious food,” essential crops, like olives, are vital for community survival.

Muslim Futures’ olive tree planting project in Palestine has helped, and continues to help, hundreds of farmers with thousands of tree plantings. These farmers are dependent on olive trees to provide for their families.
