Monthly Grocery to the disservice community of leprosy affected in India
by Madurai Health and Leprosy Relief CentreFor over three decades, MAHELERECEN has been a lifeline for abandoned elderly people—those who were once pillars of their families but were later left with no one. Today, We cares for over 300 leprosy affected and helpless senior citizens, offering them not just shelter but the love of a family they lost.
In 1991, Dr Maria Xavier Turtius started 'Madurai Health and Leprosy Relief Centre' society to ensure disabled because of suffer in leprosy. Over the years, he has taken in hundreds of abandoned leprosy affected across Madurai rural —giving them medical care and rehabilitate support in Alanganallour block, Thiruparan kundram block, Alagerkovil block, and Karupayurani block and hot of Madurai city.
Many of these leprosy elders arrive with nothing. Some are too weak to walk, others are struggling with illnesses, and most are carrying the wounds pain of being left behind. But here, they finally find kindness.
At MAHELERECEN Society, provides the medical care and grocery in their doorsteps. we can provide the hospital care with local medical college hospital. Monthly grocery needs are as follows, we take these items in our 4 wheeler - Maruti EECO van and meet the needy people in our project area. we provides all these support as in free of cost.
Rice - 5Kg
Dall - 1 Kg
Cooking oil - 1 liter
Atta, Rava, Suger - 1 Kg each
Tea - 100gm
Nutritional powder -1 Kg
Multigrain powder - 1 Kg
Biscuits , toothpaste, hair oil and soap etc.
Shirts , Saree, Blanket and towel.
More than that, they find a place where they are loved. They are no longer unwanted. They are family.
