Sudan Situation

by The UN Refugee Agency ( UNHCR CANADA / HCR CANADA)

Millions have been forced to flee.

Sudan is now the world’s largest displacement crisis. Around one in three people in Sudan has been forced to flee their home, driving one of the biggest displacement emergencies globally. Nearly 12 million people are displaced, including millions who remain uprooted inside the country and more than four million refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries, most of them to Chad and Egypt.

More than 30 million people – most of Sudan’s population – urgently need humanitarian assistance. Children make up the majority of those uprooted, while hunger, disease outbreaks, and climate shocks are deepening suffering. Humanitarian efforts are stretched to the limit by insecurity, access constraints, and severe funding shortfalls.

UNHCR is providing life-saving support both inside Sudan and across the region.

In Sudan, UNHCR is helping refugees and displaced families by providing:
- Emergency shelter
- Health care and psychosocial support
- Protection services
- Cash assistance to help families meet basic needs
- Essential household items such as blankets, kitchen supplies, and hygiene kits

Your donation will support people forced to flee in Sudan and to neighbouring countries.
