Build a Water Well in Bangladesh

by INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RELIEF FOUNDATION

The Situation

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, and access to safe drinking water remains a persistent challenge for millions of its people. Rapid population growth, widespread groundwater contamination from naturally occurring arsenic, and the increasing frequency of floods driven by climate change have put safe water out of reach for communities across the country — particularly in rural and coastal regions. Women and children bear the heaviest burden, spending hours each day travelling to find water that is often still unsafe to drink. The consequences reach every part of daily life: rising rates of waterborne illness, reduced school attendance, and limited economic opportunity for families already living on the margins.

How you can help?

IDRF, in partnership with local communities, is addressing these ongoing issues by building water wells that serve families directly. One water well provides water to 300 families.
