The Situation
Intense military conflict has erupted, leading to the deaths of more than 400 people, with thousands more injured. The conflict has ignited a humanitarian emergency and raised fears of a prolonged and unpredictable civil war.
Basic necessities such as food and water are running thin in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and the violence has caused thousands of refugees to flee to neighbouring countries.
Right now there are growing fears violence will continue to escalate. Before the violence broke out, 16 million people already relied on humanitarian aid to survive, and the escalating situation has only made things worse.
