Instituto da Criança and União BR Movement join forces and carry out action to benefit victims of floods.
As we have all been following, Rio Grande do Sul has been hit by heavy rains, causing damage in over 300 municipalities in the state, affecting more than 700 thousand people, according to Civil Defense data.
The State Government has declared a state of emergency through Decree No. 57,596 of May 1, 2024.
The Instituto da Criança, with its area dedicated to humanitarian aid actions, has set up an emergency support operation for the state in partnership with the União BR movement, supporting civil defense, as well as local social organizations.
At this critical moment, the emergency demand includes water, dehydrated meals, food baskets, hygiene and cleaning kits, blankets, and mattresses. In addition, cities will also need support for reconstruction after the rains. We are mobilizing efforts to meet these urgent needs and help communities recover from this natural disaster.
How does our work function?
The Instituto da Criança is the financial manager of the União BR Movement. All resources raised in this action, through individuals and legal entities, are deposited into the dedicated account of the Movement. The Instituto da Criança is responsible for the acquisition of necessary inputs, searches and screening of suppliers, makes purchases, monitors deliveries, and reports through reports.
The União BR Movement is the operational manager and creator. Created in 2020 to strengthen the fight against the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil, it has already supported more than 26 million people and 4 thousand NGOs. The entire operation, understanding of the situation, checking of deliveries, and frontline work are carried out by them always effectively, safely, and transparently.
Together, the Instituto da Criança and the União BR Movement have already acted in various emergency situations, such as rains in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo coast, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Maranhão, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Santa Catarina, Acre, drought in Amazonas and Pará, and the humanitarian crisis of the Yanomami people, among other actions abroad.
For those who wish to join us in this humanitarian effort in Rio Grande do Sul, we are receiving donations. The resources will be exclusively used for the benefit of victims in Rio Grande do Sul for emergency and structural items.
Together, we are stronger.
