VACD's Children's Nutrition Program

by Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities Ltd

Most of our VACD children come from rural single family, low income, impoverished homes where the main breadwinner is the mother of the child who does not have proper education or skills to generate sufficient household income to maintain her family and provide basic needs for her children.

A government health inspector who visited our centre found most of our disabled children undernourished and weak. We commenced our program to provide our children with one nourishing meal that was prepared by volunteering VACD mothers. Health inspectors and consultant pediatricians who visit our centre encourage us to continue with this program so that children with congenital impairments will at least get one healthy and nourishing meal that will help them in the rehabilitation process.
