Calvary Bible Baptist Church

Visión Académica Héctor y Melita Sotomayor’s primary focus is to provide scholastic achievement awards to students from low-income families who reside in Puerto Rico. Our hope is to inspire students who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or promise, despite the financial challenges they face. VAHMS recognizes their efforts and rewards their perseverance with a one-time monetary grant and through this acknowledgement, the hope of encouraging them to continue to work-hard and always strive to reach their academic goals and dreams. In addition, VAHMS recognizes teachers that have shown excellence in their teaching principles and have left a permanent impression on their students. VAHMS recognizes these teachers by awarding them the VAHMS Excellence in Teaching Award, for their contributions in molding the minds of the next generation of scholars and world leaders.

The values and beliefs of the founding members have inspired them to recognize outstanding students and teachers alike who have shown academic promise, dedication and devotion. VAHMS aspires to be a stepping stone for students and a motivation for those who chose to inspire others with the noble profession of teaching.
