As the violence in Israel and Gaza rages on and the humanitarian needs intensify, you can help support the health and well-being of survivors by contributing to Americares response efforts. Americares is focused on the most urgent medical needs of civilians caught in the crisis. Since Israel was violently attacked across the border from Gaza on October 7 and the ongoing hostilities escalated, thousands of deaths and injuries have been reported in Gaza and Israel, and the toll continues to rise with over 1.5 million people displaced in Gaza – more than half the population.
“The situation is absolutely dire—tens of thousands of families need food, clean water and shelter—and hospitals are running out of fuel. Our support will help health facilities continue operating and providing essential health services to children and adults most impacted by this crisis,” said Americares Deputy Senior Vice President of Emergency Programs Provash Budden. “We are also monitoring how we can assist with mental health support for those who have experienced horrific violence and the tragic loss of loved ones.”
Americares is currently partnering to:
Provide Medical Supplies for Gaza: We are collaborating with our longtime partner organization, Anera, to position and send medicines and medical supplies in Egypt to cross the humanitarian corridor into Gaza. At present, a team of Americares logistics experts are on-the-ground in Egypt.
Support for Healthcare Providers in Israel: Americares is partnering with Friends of United Hatzalah, to resupply the organization’s trauma kits, defibrillators, and medical bags to ensure these frontline responders can provide critical care in southern Israel.
Care for Mental Health: Americares is working with HIAS, a global Jewish humanitarian organization, to support a mental health hotline in Israel. Recognizing the mental health needs of humanitarian organizations on the ground and those most impacted by this war, Americares is also actively engaged in discussions with partners to determine how we can provide additional support to survivors and frontline responders.
