Millions of people still urgently need support. Last year, Pakistan was hit by almost two months of continuous rainfall, causing a national emergency.
Over 1,700 people lost their lives to the floods, and a further 12,000 were injured. 900,000 houses were destroyed, with an estimated 8 million people forced to leave their homes.
Thanks to the kindness of people like you, so far, we’ve been able to reach more than 704,000 people, providing necessities like clean water, food, essential toiletries and shelter.
But the impact of these floods is still being felt today. Infrastructure, buildings, and livelihoods lie in ruins, and millions of people still need our help.
It’s been months since the worst floods in decades hit Pakistan, but this devastating disaster continues affecting lives – and its longer-term impacts are becoming clearer:
Thousands of healthcare facilities have been damaged, and the World Health Organisation has estimated 8 million people need healthcare assistance.
The floods have pushed up to 9 million people into poverty, and their situation is being made worse by the ongoing economic crisis in the country.
Over 1.1 million livestock were killed - with many communities dependent on agriculture and farming, that’s making it harder for people to rebuild their lives.
