YouthRISE: A partnership between SOS Children’s Villages Canada and Scotiabank

Protecting children and their rights for over 75 years, SOS Children’s Villages operates in more than 130 countries and territories and supports millions of children and families each year.

SOS Children’s Villages envisions a world where every child grows up in a nurturing family with the love, respect, and security they need to thrive. We build families for children in need, help them shape their futures, and share in the development of their communities—a mission that SOS Children’s Villages Canada has proudly supported with Canadians since 1969. However, we cannot achieve this alone. That’s where you come in.

Our partnership with Scotiabank through the ScotiaRISE-funded YouthRISE project is a powerful example of how private-sector support can create a lasting, positive impact. YouthRISE is providing life-changing opportunities for nearly 800 disadvantaged youth in Jamaica and Mexico. Through 2027, this partnership will empower young people with access to education, valuable job skills, entrepreneurship training, climate awareness, and community engagement, as well as connections to mentors and internships—resources that will help them succeed now and into the future.

These vulnerable youth, who have faced significant barriers to education and decent employment, often come from challenging backgrounds—many have lost parental care, live in extreme poverty, or have endured neglect and abuse. Yet, with the right support, their potential and hope manifest. YouthRISE is helping them break barriers, become economically independent, and contribute to their communities.
