LHAISSA (We Care) - Mozambique

来自 SAVE THE CHILDREN-CANADA/AIDE A L'ENFANCE-CANADA

Lhaissa (We Care) is a four-year, gender-transformative initiative implemented by Save the Children and partner women’s rights organization, Forum Mulher, that aims to transform how paid childcare work is recognized and valued in Mozambique.

In the project context, paid childcare work is typically performed by women in community-based early childhood development (ECD) centres. The focus of the project will be in 25 ECD centres in Gaza province (Limpopo, Manjacaze, and Chonguene Districts), and the project will also engage in national-level advocacy work that will represent paid childcare workers and will catalyze momentum that will make the Government of Mozambique more responsive to the rights and needs of paid childcare workers.

The project will reach 8,451 direct beneficiaries, the majority of whom are women, including paid childcare workers and male and female parents and caregivers.

The project objective is strengthening women's empowerment via:

• Responding to the rights and needs of paid care workers
• Supporting redistribution of care work at the household level & women's increased engagement in community decision-making
• Strengthening care-related policies at the national level
