After the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28, a state of emergency was declared in six of Myanmar's most affected regions—Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Shan, and Naypyidaw—home to over 28 million people, about half of the country's population. The earthquake has destroyed or severely damaged more than 10,000 buildings, and critical infrastructure, such as roads and hospitals, have totally collapsed. As the full extent of the destruction continues to unfold, children are facing unimaginable challenges. An estimated 1.1 million children are vulnerable and urgently in need of critical support.
Save the Children's teams are working with local partners to provide life-saving support to children and families, ensuring they receive the care they need in these critical moments.
Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995, and with your help, we can respond quickly to the needs of children in crisis.
Your donation ensures that we can act fast in responding to this emergency, making a real difference for the children affected by the Myanmar earthquake.
Here's how your donation can help:
$75 - Provides a family with a hygiene kit (soaps, toothbrushes, towels), to protect them from preventable diseases during the crisis.
$100 - Gives a child the essential care they need to cope with conflict, including medicine, trauma support, clean water, and access to education, ensuring their recovery and continued learning.
$150 - Supplies emergency food, high-nutrient peanut paste or clean water, addressing immediate hunger and preventing malnutrition.
$200 - Funds a full day of emergency medical services, including transporting children in crisis to health facilities for urgent care.
The impact of the earthquake will be felt for months to come, and your donation will provide immediate support to children in need.
