Advanced Epilepsy Treatment: Restore Stability And Independence For Adults In Armenia

For adults living with severe epilepsy in Armenia, daily life is shaped by uncertainty. Uncontrolled seizures can make it impossible to work, study, or even leave home safely. While an advanced, highly effective epilepsy treatment exists, one that can dramatically reduce seizures without invasive surgery, its cost puts it out of reach for most families.

Today, insurance covers only half of this treatment. Patients are left to find nearly $3,300 on their own, an impossible sum for working adults, caregivers, and families already stretched by medical expenses. As a result, many people continue to live with uncontrolled epilepsy, despite the availability of a proven solution.

Behind every patient is a real story:
- an adult forced to give up their job after repeated seizures,
- a caregiver living in constant fear of the next episode,
- a person isolated by stigma, unable to participate fully in society.

Through this project, VIVA helps adults with epilepsy access this advanced, non-traumatic treatment by covering the uncovered portion of its cost. The result is fewer seizures, improved daily functioning, and the chance to regain independence and dignity. It is possible to fully cure epilepsy with this procedure.
