Lebanon Emergency Appeal

efter SAVE THE CHILDREN-CANADA/AIDE A L'ENFANCE-CANADA

Children are once again caught up in a war they did nothing to create. Since Monday 23rd September, escalating violence in southern Lebanon has killed thousands of people and forced millions to flee their homes.

Children are telling us that every loud sound makes them jump now. Whenever they hear a door slam or something drop, they get scared and think it’s another sonic boom or bomb falling. All schools have also closed, meaning millions of children are missing out on learning.

RESPONSE IN LEBANON
Save the Children has been working in Lebanon since 1953, supporting children’s rights, safety, education, health and nutrition.
In recent weeks, as the situation has deteriorated, we’ve rapidly scaled up our response to support children and families with immediate needs which includes:
• Providing essential items – like mattresses, blankets, pillows, bottled water and hygiene kits – to families staying in temporary shelters across 96 locations.
• Providing water to families in shelters and food parcels to families outside shelters.
• Setting up safe spaces for children to play and referring them for additional support if needed.

Donations will be matched by the government of Canada up to $3 million
until November 17th, 2024. This is made possible through our membership with the Humanitarian Coalition.

Your donations can help:
• Provide hygiene kits with soap, toothpaste and hygiene products to families.
• Provide families with food parcels.
• Provide families with cash to help them buy essentials for one month.

Every war is a war on children. We must do everything we can to protect children in conflict zones.
