WCK's Los Angeles Wildfire Response (Jan. 2025)

Beginning on January 7, multiple wildfires broke out and began wreaking havoc across several major residential areas in Los Angeles County. Fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, the blazes proved very difficult to contain for local firefighters and first responders, who worked tirelessly to curb the spread of destruction. The fires consumed over 40,000 acres of land, destroying thousands of structures, forcing the evacuation of up to nearly 200,000 people, and tragically resulting in the loss of human life. WCK distributed comforting meals to first responders and impacted families across 50+ locations in Southern California, including emergency personnel hubs, shelters, and public distribution sites. In addition to providing warm meals to impacted communities, WCK opened a series of farmers markets where residents can collect fresh, locally-grown produce for free. Our teams also distributed grocery store gift cards to restaurant workers and owners who lost their sources of income to the blazes. In total, WCK’s local network of 100+ restaurant and food truck partners served more than 1.6 million comforting meals and distributed over 63,000 gallons of fresh water to communities affected by the fires’ destruction.
