Russian army actions, including occupation and negligence, caused Kakhovka dam to collapse on June 6, 2023. Dozens of villages were flooded to the rooftops. Power and gas supplies remain disconnected, while fresh water supplies are a critical issue.
Nova Ukraine already helped this region in the past, first when it was a frontline and later after its de-occupation from Russian forces. We knew that water and power supplies will be of critical need. That's why we started our efforts to help from the moment the news break about the disaster:

This donated money is already put to work. We have procured powerful water drainage pumps and a few hundred waders. All these essential supplies are being delivered to the rescue crews of Kherson region ASAP. A thousand water filters are also on the way to Nikopol district - one of the critical areas.
The damage is unimaginable. The water level in the region reached its peak on June 9. Dozens of villages are literally under the water. Thousands of residents have lost their homes, pets, and harvests
This manmade disaster will have major impact on the world food market. With dam and huge reservoir destroyed, the area around it for about 100 miles will turn into a dry fields. Grains and oilseeds were the main products which were grown on the affected land. Ukraine is a global major grain and oilseeds grower and exporter.
