WCK's Central Europe Flooding Response (Sept. 2024)
op WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN INCORPORATEDWorld Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is on the ground in Poland and the Czech Republic to provide food and potable water as torrential rains in central Europe cause the worst flooding in decades. At least eleven people have died and tens of thousands of people are evacuating their homes across Poland, Austria, Romania, and the Czech Republic. Hundreds of thousands more are without power.
Effects of Storm Boris—the slow moving, low pressure system hammering central Europe—are expected to be felt through the week, causing rivers to rise even further. The storm has already brought a month’s worth of rain and triggered critical evacuation alerts across the region.
