BriarPatch Family Life Education Centre

The BriarPatch Family Life Education Centre was created in October of 1996 to support families in Strathcona County and the Greater Edmonton Region. Supports include our unique and varied grief programming and counselling, family supports and programming, and a community early literacy-based preschool. Programming is open to all, regardless of age, background or ability. Family focused and community driven, a high level of volunteerism is honored within our Centre.

Our current needs include expanding our reach and capacity for our H.E.A.R.T.S. Baby Loss Support Program for anyone touched by the loss of a precious baby during pregnancy, or anytime after birth. Funding through donations and grants allows us to offer free counselling to individuals, couples, families, children and teens. The loss of a baby has an impact on not just the family but the community at large. By supporting grieving parents and siblings, healing begins and this difficult journey is more manageable. Our new online chat is an innovative new program to provide timely support in a safe and comfortable manner. Our events (Annual Baby Steps Walk to Remember, Annual Bridge Illumination, Annual Retreat and Annual Candlelight Memorial Service) all benefit from donations that are directed to the H.E.A.R.T.S. Baby Loss Support Program.

The BriarPatch actively fundraises to offer programming at no cost or low cost, writes grants to cover expenses and relies on donations from participants, as well as the general public to ensure we have enough resources to support those who seek are programming. All donations will be acknowledged and tax receipts provided.
