Middle East and Wider Regional Crisis

As violence escalates in Lebanon, children and families are fleeing their homes with little more than what they can carry. In just two weeks, more than 831,000 people, including at least 290,000 children, have been displaced, forcing many to leave behind vital documents, clothing, and even medication.

But amidst the fear and chaos, children are clutching the few things that bring them comfort — a beloved pet, a blue toy car, a second-hand scooter, anything familiar as their world is turned upside down.

Save the Children teams on the ground report heartbreaking scenes:
Families fleeing in the middle of the night with no time to pack.
Children refusing to leave without their pets or most treasured toys.
A woman forced to give birth in her car due to gridlocked traffic as thousands rushedto safety.
People unable to access lifesaving medical care, including dialysis, cancer
treatment, and maternal health support.

More than 130,000 people are now sheltering in overcrowded schools and sports stadiums, with families sleeping on cold floors, more than 50 people sharing a single toilet, and limited access to heat or cooking facilities.

Our Country Director in Lebanon, Nora Ingdal, shared stories of children who feel trapped, scared, and unable to play. One child told us, “I just want to go back to my village as soon as possible.”

Save the Children is responding right now, distributing:
Blankets, mattresses, pillows
Baby supplies and hygiene kits
Clean water
Psychological first aid and emotional support
