Project for Educational Opportunity Inequality and Awarenesss

The project will be implemented under the leadership of the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) at the Pin Hole Youth Center. Young volunteers will be empowered through training sessions provided by experts in ecology, volunteering, and children's rights. These young individuals will enhance their leadership and communication skills by conducting educational sessions for children. The project also aims to provide young volunteers with training in facilitation, group management, and communication skills. The educational sessions for children, on the other hand, target awareness in ecology, volunteering, and children's rights. This comprehensive approach enhances the positive impact of the project on both young volunteers and children, providing valuable gains for the community.

Challenge: The project focuses on 2,305 primary school students in nine schools located in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas in the Atakum district of Samsun. This group includes students whose household income falls below the specified level. The project aims to provide stationery support to these students to ensure equal opportunities in education. Additionally, as a component of the project, university students will offer ecology-related education to children, aiming to increase environmental awareness. Thus, the project seeks to contribute to both children's education and environmental responsibility, aiming to create a more equitable learning environment.

Solution: Within the scope of the project, university students will be the target group to provide children with ecology-related education. The project aims to not only provide access to basic educational resources for children in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas but also to raise awareness and responsibility in ecological matters through the involvement of university students. This approach ensures that children will not only gain access to fundamental educational tools but also become more conscious and knowledgeable about environmental issues. Thus, the impact of the project goes beyond ensuring educational equality, contributing to the development of environmentally conscious and informed individuals among children.

Target Population: The project aims to serve primary school students between the ages of 7 and 10. A total of 2,305 students from nine schools in the Atakum district of Samsun fall within the targeted age range. This group of students includes those attending schools in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas and whose household income is below the specified level.

Supporting one primary school student's training expenses is $60.
