As war rages in Ukraine, animals have been caught in the crossfire, and the situation is growing more dire every day. While many established shelters, zoos, and rescues in Ukraine have the administrative resources to seek aid, small animal shelters – especially those in active war regions – are struggling to maintain care. In light of this growing crisis, Nova Ukraine is supporting hundreds of animal welfare organizations and volunteers who are caring for thousands of injured and stranded animals throughout Ukraine. There is no clear end of this war in sight, so we must continue fundraising to support the emergency rescue efforts of animals in Ukraine.
Donated funds are used to cover costs of relocation, basic food supplies, medical needs, establishment in new locations, and more. Animal welfare will remain a high-urgency matter for the months and years to come, so we really need your support now.
Nova Ukraine’s Work to Date:
Nova Ukraine is helping over 400 mini-shelters that collectively host over 25,000 animals. These shelters care for dogs, cats, various birds, hedgehogs, and even one raccoon. We are active in war conflict zones like Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, among others. We are also assisting wildlife rescues, stables and equestrian centers that are uniting to help evacuation efforts of large animals from around the country. We are building relationships with suppliers to provide food, medicine, and other goods to animals, while also financing preventative and urgent veterinary expenses.
