Support Syrian Refugees and Others Around the World
par INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE INCThe International Rescue Committee provides lifesaving support to Syrians struggling to survive a war now in its twelfth year. Across Syria, the IRC provides lifesaving support to 1 million people—almost half of them children. More than 14 million people are still in need of aid, with 90% of Syrians living in poverty.
Through programs coordinated by our teams based in Iraq, Jordan and Syria, the IRC provides emergency and long-term services to displaced families and Syrians who have stayed in their homes.
The IRC is the only international nongovernmental aid organization whose relief and development efforts address the needs of displaced families inside Syria, as well as the needs of Syrian refugees and host communities living in the neighboring countries of Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey; in Europe; and in the United States.
This crisis demands the urgent attention of the world’s leaders and the public alike.
The IRC has been delivering aid into Syria since 2012. More than 3,000 IRC aid workers and local volunteers operating have reached more than 3.3 million Syrians fleeing violence with services including health care, protection of vulnerable women and children, education, and economic recovery since the start of the crisis.
Your support to the IRC in response to the crisis in Syria helps ensure that we can:
• Operate clinics and mobile teams to provide lifesaving trauma services, primary and reproductive care, dialysis and essential drugs; ensure the uninterrupted flow of supplies and equipment to healthcare providers; and integrate mental health into our primary care services.
• Provide emergency cash assistance to help displaced families meet their immediate needs.
• Provide education, counseling and protection services for thousands of children in camps and communities. Reunite unaccompanied children with their families or identify safe caretakers.
• Create safe spaces for women and girls that offer services for survivors of violence, as well as counseling and jobs skills training.
• Build refugee families’ economic stability with job training, apprenticeships, and small business support.
Your gift allows us to deliver comprehensive aid to people affected by humanitarian crises and will be used where and when most needed.
