Solve Ninjas: Pioneers of Change
Imagine if every young person, brimming with energy, was a proactive problem solver. At the heart of every social changemaker lies love, care, pride, and a deep sense of ownership towards their community. We nurture this spirit through our concept of 'Solve Ninjas' discover issues, investigate them, devise solutions, and share their successes, acting on local data, engaging in local campaigns, and building local solutions.
Our goal is to harness the power of these skilled youth to address hyper-local climate and civic issues within their neighbourhoods, leveraging a combination of grassroots mobilisation and open technology platforms.
Climate/Civic Action: Reap Benefit is dedicated to mobilizing youth, referred to as "Solve Ninjas," to take tangible climate action at the neighborhood level. These action-oriented youth actively engage in crowdsourcing local data, designing climate solutions and campaigns, and advocating for policy changes to combat climate change within their communities.
Solve Ninja create a three tier impact:
Individual Level: Skill Activation: Central to Reap Benefit's mission is the development of 21st-century skills among youth. By participating in climate and civic action actions , these young individuals acquire essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and leadership. These skills not only prepare them for a lifelong commitment to their communities but also enhance their employability and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Community Level: Public Data & Solutions -Solve Ninjas have crowdsourced half million climate and civic data, influenced policies and developed 2000+ diy solutions.
Systemic Level: Technology: Reap Benefit's technology platform, named "Samaaja," serves as a pivotal tool in their mission. Samaaja is an interoperable and open-source platform designed to rapidly create and deploy location-based citizen participation services. It empowers youth to engage in local climate action within their neighbourhoods. A peer-community, and consistent nudges for action. Our tech includes a WhatsApp Chatbot (Solve Ninja Mentor Bot), a crowdsourced repository of hyper-local data (SamaajData), and a community engagement platform (Solve Ninja Forum). Join Us in Making a Difference
We invite you to join us in this journey of empowering the youth and creating tangible change. Together, we can build a future where every young person is equipped to tackle societal and environmental challenges head-on.
We are looking for donations for the following:
1. Changemaker Fund - Over the years we have seen several young changemakers evolve from underserved communities - from both rural and urban settings. However, often these young people do not have the resources or support to grow their changemaking initiatives. The could be starting their own NGO or social enterprise, running campaigns or developing tech products. With your support we can help such young people continue to make growing impact in their communities
2. Solve Ninja Fourm (https://forum.solveninja.org/) - The Solve Ninja Forum is an innovative platform designed for hyper-local, citizen-driven discussions on civic and environmental problem-solving, policy shaping, and best practices sharing. Housing over 160 engaging posts, the forum is a dynamic space where diverse communities converge to exchange ideas and solutions.
Key features of the forum include interactive "Ask Me Anything" sessions and an array of DIY citizen projects like the Flobot – a portable real-time water quality monitor, and self-segregating smart bins. These projects exemplify practical, community-led innovation and encourage active participation in local problem-solving.
The forum is enriched with a broad spectrum of over 550 civic and climate solutions, including both technological and non-technological approaches. This extensive repository of toolkits and playbooks is openly accessible, promoting widespread engagement in effective, hands-on problem-solving.
We could use your support to enhance features on the forum and its reach.
3. SamaajData (https://samaajdata.org/): Samaaj Data is a dynamic platform dedicated to collating and verifying hyper-local data on climate and governance, sourced directly from the community. Its primary goal is to foster transparency at a local level, thereby empowering communities to identify and tackle civic and climate-related challenges effectively. In many neighbourhoods, the absence of readily accessible, structured data hinders meaningful citizen engagement. By spotlighting pressing issues through data, Samaaj Data nurtures community-driven responses, encouraging collaborative efforts among various stakeholders for better planning, decision-making, and ownership of local issues.
Analysis: Samaaj Data offers comprehensive analysis capabilities, identifying patterns in climatic degradation and human contributions. This analysis informs community actions and policy decisions.
Visualisation: The platform presents data in an accessible format, using maps and dashboards to highlight key issues within specific clusters and geographical boundaries.
Access: Accessibility is a core feature, with data available to various stakeholders, including nonprofits, government bodies, and local representatives. Different access methods are provided, including Google Sheets for contributors and maps or interactive voice response systems (IVRS) for others.
Overall, Samaaj Data stands as a beacon of community-driven change, showcasing the profound impact that collective, data-informed action can have on local and broader scales. Its ability to transform raw data into actionable insights makes it a vital tool in the quest for sustainable and resilient communities.
SamaajData is an open-source, low-cost technology, we would like your support to help improve and integrate SamaajData with other social impact organisations to help enhance reach and impact.
