When crisis strikes, or a partner reaches out seeking help, Americares is always prepared to spring into action and send a lifesaving shipment of medicine and relief supplies where they're needed most.

Our work to respond to a crisis starts long before disaster hits.

Distribution centers are always stocked and ready with critical lifesaving medicine and supplies, so we’re able to respond to a disaster such as an earthquake or a crisis like a shortage of medicine. For example, we’ll ship large quantities of medical necessities immediately after an emergency – and in the past two years, as the COVID-19 pandemic has surged on, these shipments have also included critically needed PPE. Other shipments may include medications to combat deadly chronic diseases. The challenge is to get what's needed, where it's needed, when it's needed.

Our teams can track each box or pallet from the moment it enters our distribution center all the way through to where our partner accepts and distributes it — often to the very last mile in the destination country.

Local partners on the ground are crucial to working quickly and effectively. Thanks to their help and inside knowledge, we understand the potential logistical challenges that are unique to any given region.

We use our Partner Priority Database to ensure our partners receive the volume and types of medicine and supplies they can store, track and manage.

We get to work packing the most useful and urgently needed medicine and relief supplies.

We book the shipment door to door, whether by land, sea or air. No matter where those impacted by crisis are, our logistics teams have all the tools at their disposal to get our lifesaving shipment on its way as quickly and efficiently as possible. In the most extreme cases they can charter a plane, or in working day to day we can book international courier shipments.
