The Women's Centre of Calgary is one of Calgary's longest standing and most trusted organizations dedicated to the wellbeing, empowerment, and advancement of women and girls. Rooted in the principle that community is essential to resilience and change, the Centre operates as a low-barrier, drop-in space where women can access support, connect with peers, and build meaningful lives - regardless of their circumstances.
Who We Are
The Centre's mission is to be every woman's place for support, connection, and community. Its vision is of a city where community empowers women and women empower community. To achieve this, the Centre serves all women and girls across the lifespan, with intentional focus on those who face the greatest systemic barriers: Indigenous women, newcomer women, young women and girls, gender-diverse individuals, women experiencing poverty and housing instability, women facing violence, and women in social isolation.
In 2025, the Women’s Centre served 11,717 unique women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals across 52,000 contacts and 288 workshops; a testament to both the depth of community need and the trust the Centre has built over decades of consistent, dignified service. Of those served, 39% were living in poverty, reflecting the Centre’s continued commitment to reaching those with the fewest resources. In an annual survey of 463 women, 97% reported a positive life change, 96% said they would recommend the Centre, 94% reported feeling heard and valued, and 92% reported increased confidence and decision-making ability.
