Challenge
People in Turkey battle wildfires on an ongoing basis. Small fires burn across the country throughout the summer season. In recent years the start of large fires in highly populated areas at the same time has tightened the resources to respond. Strong winds have caused the fires to spread quickly, prompting mass evacuations in many areas. TPF has a system set up through its partnership with Afet Platformu that enables us to follow the needs, developments, and the response closely in real-time.
Solution
The TPF Wildfire Relief Fund will be among TPF's permanent funds to support recovery and preparedness programs in communities most impacted by wildfires. All donations to this fund will support Turkey's wildfire relief and recovery efforts. We monitor the impact on affected communities and work with partners at Afet Platformu to allocate funds to where they're needed most. Immediately after the disaster struck, the fund supported first responders to meet food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter needs. As needs emerge, we support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted partner organizations in the impacted area(s).
How Your Donation Will Be Used
When you donate to TPF's Wildfire Relief Fund, your donation will be used to:
Provide food, clean water, emergency medical supplies, shelter, and other urgent needs to displaced people and animals;
Provide support to volunteers and front-line workers;
Meet long-term recovery efforts such as supporting the livelihoods of the communities impacted.
TPF shares impact reports about how funds are used online and via email.
