《 II. 1919 Emergency Relief for Families in Need
In the year of 2002 tens of thousands of families became “New Poverty” in Taiwan. These new poor families include those who lost their jobs or families that met with accidents. Due to the inflexibility of the social welfare system, these families were excluded by any form of legal assistance.
Therefore, CCRA established the 1919 emergency service network in 2003. As of 1/2023, over 15,398 families in distress have received care and emergency relief funds (typical award amount is NT$5,500 for 4 months [total: NT$22,000]).
《 III. 1919 After-School Tutoring for Disadvantaged Children
The project provides 1919 Service Centers a monthly stipend per elementary school children of NT$1,200 and middle school student of NT$2,000 (for a period of at least 1 year) to help cover program enrollment costs. Aside from providing free after school tutoring and good moral / life guidance, the program further takes an active interest in the needs / problems of each student’s family.
From 2004. more than 65 thousand disadvantaged students have benefited over the past 19 years by over 240 community-based 1919 Service Centers.
《 IV. 1919 Food Bank
Launched in 2010, the 1919 Food Bank program furthers the effect and impact of CCRA work to help Taiwan’s poorest and most disadvantaged overcome adversity, reorient their lives and become productive, positive members of society.
1919 Service Center volunteers deliver 1919 Food Bank care packages directly to the homes of those in need. This enhances the effect of CCRA outreach efforts and avoids the need for low-income families to expend their limited resources on travel to and from distribution centers. Until Jan. of 2023, through the 837 1919 Food Bank service center across Taiwan , issued a total of 277,634 Food packages, helping 60,078 families. The total value of the goods is more than 719 million NTD. Since 2015, a total of 14 1919 physical stores have been established, serving an average of 500 vulnerable families per month.
《 V. 1919 Wonderful Club
Established 1919 Wonderful Club in the 1919 Service Centers. Through the "health promotion" activities, diversified services for seniors' psychological and population relationships to lighten the burden on the family.
At present, 85 churches across Taiwan have established Wonderful Clubs which provides elder health promotion activities at least 2 hours a week. From 2023 to 2024, it is expected to assist in the establishment of 30 more. At the same time, it will also train early volunteers to help the elderly be prosperous and blessed.
