Since the conflict in Sudan began in April 2023, more than 3 million people have sought refuge in South Sudan, Chad, and neighboring countries. This displacement crisis has been further compounded by the declaration of famine in five locations across Sudan in late 2024 with additional areas predicted to be impacted by early 2025.
Oxfam and partners are providing clean water, toilets, bathing facilities, and distributing food and cash to families in need. As people continue to pour into Sudan’s neighboring countries, much more assistance will be needed to meet the urgent needs of the displaced in this overlooked crisis.
