Turkish Philanthropy Funds is proud to partner with the Turkish American Orchestra (TAO) to support its mission of fostering cultural exchange and building bridges through music. By partnering with TAO, we aim to promote the vibrant and diverse musical traditions of Turkiye and bring them to audiences across the United States.
The Turkish American Orchestra brings together over 50 Turkish and American professional musicians, blending traditional symphonic instruments with Turkish instruments like the kanun and oud. Their innovative performances span a wide range of genres—from Western classical compositions by Turkish composers to traditional Turkish music and contemporary styles like jazz, film scores, and rap. TAO is dedicated to showcasing the rich heritage of Turkish composers, including legends like Cemal Reşit Rey and Sezen Aksu, as well as modern talents like Grammy-nominated Esin Aydıngöz and Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol. Through this partnership, we celebrate the power of music to connect communities and inspire audiences.
WHY SUPPORT TAO?
Preserve and Celebrate Turkish Cultural Heritage
Supporting the Turkish American Orchestra (TAO) is about building a lasting flagship cultural institution that represents and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Turkish music in the U.S.
Each season, TAO will host at least two major concerts along with smaller events throughout the year.
TAO fosters an inclusive community where people can connect through the universal language of music.
TAO brings together 50 professional musicians to perform Turkish music of all genres in symphonic form, sharing the richness of our heritage.
TAO is deeply committed to its musicians, with over 50% of our budget directly supporting them, ensuring the highest quality performances and honoring their vital role.
TAO enriches the global musical landscape by commissioning original works, furthering the evolution of Turkish music
Scholarships for Young Musicians
As a non-profit organization, TAO is dedicated to nurturing future musical talent. A portion of the orchestra’s proceeds is allocated to scholarships for Turkish students, administered through TPF. This initiative not only provides meaningful financial support to emerging talent, but also supports individual aspirations helping them achieve their educational and professional goals.
CHALLENGE:
Unfortunately, as typical in orchestras, ticket sales cover less than 30% of the costs. Your support is essential in bridging this gap. By contributing to TAO, you are directly investing in the arts, cultural preservation, and the strengthening of community ties—ensuring that this vibrant legacy thrives in the U.S.
