Turkey Syria Earthquake Relief
von INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RELIEF FOUNDATIONA 7.8 magnitude earthquake has rocked south-eastern Turkiye causing the death of over 5,000 people and thousands injured as buildings toppled over residents in their sleep across the regions. one of the strongest to hit the region in more than 100 years. Across the region, thousands of buildings collapsed including two hospitals in Malatya and Hatay are severely damaged.
Given the changing nature of the situation in Turkiye and Syria, IDRF has launched its first phase of its emergency response program to respond rapidly to the humanitarian crisis in the regions. We will be providing survivors of the earthquake with food kits, emergency first aid and winter supplies to keep warm during the harsh winter such as blankets, heaters, tents and jackets.
To respond to the growing displacement of people, IDRF will also support families with shelter at our community center in Kilis, Turkey. Through IDRF’s rapid response, $100 will alleviate those impacted by this natural disaster from food insecurity and the endangerment caused by the earthquake.
