COVAX: Powering the largest and fastest vaccine operation for humanity

by Australian Committee For UNICEF Limited

Join UNICEF to power the largest and fastest vaccine operation for humanity, and deliver urgently needed COVID vaccinations across the globe.

UNICEF, the United Nations agency dedicated to children and their rights, is leveraging its decades of experience vaccinating nearly half the world’s children each year, to fill a role that no other organisation is equipped to do – to lead the procurement and supply of COVID-19 vaccines globally, especially for low- and middle-income countries.

The goal for 2021 is to procure and deliver 2 billion doses of vaccines in a fair and equitable manner. An effort of this scale and speed has never been done before. At the same time, emergency outbreaks like the deadly second wave in India means that surge support in vaccination, therapeutics and diagnostic tools are urgently needed for a fast response.

UNICEF’S GLOBAL IMPACT
UNICEF works in the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents, vaccinating every second child in the world. UNICEF is the largest vaccine procurer and distributor with a global supply chain and is on-the-ground across 190 countries.

The global COVAX Facility has been established to ensure equitable and safe access to COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. This is set to be the largest and fastest vaccination operation for humanity with 190 countries signed up to COVAX.

With 75 years of experience, UNICEF has the capability and capacity to be the primary delivery partner for COVID-19 and UNICEF is proudly leading the procurement and supply of the vaccines.

UNICEF’s responsibilities for the vaccine rollout include:
• Vaccine procurement, cold chain, logistics & infrastructure.
• Supporting the planning and coordination of the vaccine rollout in low- and middle-income countries including capacity building and health worker training.
• Addressing vaccine hesitancy and encouraging vaccine uptake through communication.

WE CANNOT DO THIS ALONE - WE NEED YOUR HELP

UNICEF is on the front line of the pandemic and the world needs us. We must come together as a global community. With your support we can vaccinate the world and end the pandemic.

In the event that UNICEF receives more funds than needed to respond to this appeal, your gift will help support UNICEF's work for children in other emergency situations around the world.
